Meet the Lapp family; Passionate about Community, Hospitality, and Beauty

Bill and Sara Lynn Lapp, (aka “Sally”) are the owners of Oasis Collective. Oasis Collective is a family-owned business deeply rooted in the values of community, hospitality, and beauty that have been passed down through generations.

We are blessed with 8 children - 6 boys, 2 girls, plus 1 daughter-in-law and 1 grandbaby. Growing up in Lancaster County, PA, we were taught to love Jesus, work hard and care for others.

We decided to move to Canon City, Co in 2015 after a series of divine appointments and much prayer. This move marked a significant transition for our family, we had spent years building memories on the farm where I (Sally) was raised. We packed up our experiences and the legacy of homeschooling our children, and embarked on a new chapter where we were privileged to work with a ministry called New Horizons Ministries who focuses on caring for offenders. We were blessed to be a part of a wonderful community where we learned even more about caring for people.

The move to Canon City was more than just a change of scenery; it was an opportunity for more learning and growth for our entire family. We gained so much from the many people we became acquainted with through managing the mobile home park where we lived. We also helped establish a daycare for the ministry, and were involved in directing the youth-group! Our kids learned to work with other people in the New Horizons Thrift Stores; which support the ministry in Canon City. This period was transformative, deepening our commitment to hospitality and service.

In 2022 we made the long trek from the Midwest to Sarasota FL, driven by faith and the belief that God had plans for us in this new location. The journey was one of trust and hope, and it quickly became clear why we were meant to be here.

Within the first two years, we invested in a lawn care business, (Oasis Lawns, which our sons manage), expanded a Pennsylvania-based, construction company, E&EContracting to Sarasota, started stocking Airbnb’s, and began leasing the Oasis Collective venue.

This period of growth and opportunity has reaffirmed our faith and commitment to building a community-focused environment in the Sarasota area. What a ride it has been!!!

We are grateful to be a part of what God is doing here through the connections and opportunities in our business ventures. #butGod

The Dream Becomes A Reality

Sally says: From an early age, my mother instilled in me the value of transforming neglected spaces into something beautiful. Together, we painted, decorated, and laid carpet in an old abandoned house near our childhood farm. Once the house was cozy and inviting, we advertised it as a bed and breakfast at the local information center. Guests from different states began to arrive, relishing in the fresh breakfast we served — eggs, pastries, juice, and fresh cow milk. They delighted in experiencing farm life, watching us milk the cows and enjoying the presence of our horses.

As the bed and breakfast season came to a close, tears were shed, and I harbored a hope to continue the dream of beautifying spaces for both strangers and friends. Fast forward to 2023 in Sarasota, after years of hosting countless guests in our home, the time felt right to expand my dreams to a larger audience.

The journey of acquiring the intimate space behind the Pinecraft BBQ is a tale too intricate to recount here. Alongside this, we secured a lease for the empty warehouse next to our event room, where we established our mercantile.

Among the endeavors that have taken form in our time in Sarasota is the art of decorating and designing homes. This venture is a collaborative effort — I curate and purchase all the products and designs, while my children showcase their talent in erecting furniture, my husband Bill, helps us finish out the homes by hanging curtains and wall décor.

I am excited to be living my dreams of creating beautiful spaces for strangers, friends, and family through our services at Oasis Collective. This journey includes realizing my vision of owning a store filled with beautiful plants, clothing, and wall décor. Each element of our venue and mercantile is thoughtfully curated to embody friendly hospitality, ensuring that everyone who enters our doors feels welcomed and cherished. Our deepest desire is that every visitor feels the love and presence of Jesus, experiencing a true haven of peace and connection within our space.

One of our favorite hashtags is #butGod! We have huge dreams for the future of Oasis Collective and know that they can only be fulfilled as we trust God. “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26

Our life verse is Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”

Our Mission Statement:

We exist to create community and hope through encouragement, beautiful spaces, and the love of Jesus!
